We all love malls, don’t we? 

Of course we do! They are swanky, cool and offer plush places options for us to hang out with our friends and beloved ones. However, the moment we get to malls, we are spoilt for choice and lost for options. With these huge multistoreyed and spacious arenas, one always has a hard time spotting where they are located within the mall.

Also, to know about most of the shops and their best deals, we have to traverse from floor to floor to arrive at the store. It is an irony that such a huge, swanky establishment usually does not pay a lot of attention to keep its guests aware of every deal and dining option available in its multiple shops and stalls.

So, what if there was a Mall Assistant that could make it cool for us? 

No we are not talking about humans clad in black Tees and showing us directions ! We are talking of Robots !

Yes, Kidobotikz in association with the Express Avenue Mall did the unthinkable !!!

We developed a mall assistant robot that redefines the landscape of the hospitality industry.

Called the EA Bot, it is a Mall Assistant robot that was developed by the Kidobotikz community to be deployed at the atrium of the Express Avenue mall. The robot was developed in record time and was deployed at the mall on the 22nd of April, 2017. It was a warm saturday afternoon when the EA Bot was flagged off amidst much fanfare at the Express Avenue.  

How was it Launched?

The robot was launched amidst great deal of attention from the press and the populace. The event. The inauguration event was graced by several dignitaries. Mr. Bharat Joshi - Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission, Chennai, Mr. Jon Bonnar - Australian Deputy Consul-General for South India, Ms. Saroj Goenka-Chairperson, Express Infrastructure Private Limited and Ms. Kavita Singhania - Managing Director, Express Avenue & Express Infrastructure Private Limited were the chief guests who graced the event.

How does the Robot work?

The robot is not an “It”. It’s a “She”. And we call her EA Bot. 

She is 5 feet 5 inch robot who stands tall with an array of sensors dotting her structure. She employs an assortment of Ultrasonic sensors to give her 360° situational awareness. This helps her find her way around the crowd of the visitors that throng the premises of the Express Avenue mall. 

As EA Bot resides and helps visitors in the Central Atrium of the EA mall, we built a guidance system into her which helps her navigate using advanced image processing of the mall. 

So How does he help the visitors ?

As soon as visitors enter the mall, EA Bot greets them with a smile. She has big blue eyes and a electronic voice that says “Hi !  I am EA Bot ! Welcome to Express Avenue”.  The one thing we haven’t told you about EA Bot is that she has a large display screen on her front. It is a 22 inch touchscreen that displays information about all the stores that are located on the Express Avenue mall premises. It also gives information about the best deals that are on offer at the shops on the particular day. All of this expected to give an unparalleled experience to mall visitors and give them information at their fingertips.
