Can you believe a vision system in the size of an insect??

Insects are quite good at not running into things but even if they bump or run into things they are good at surviving. Bees make it more easy and convenient as they fly up to a small hole or gap, wander back and forth a little bit to collect visual information about where the edges of the gap are, and then push themselves through the gaps. It’s not fast but it’s reliable and doesn’t take much to execute. The basic motive is to recover a minimum amount of information that will be enough to complete the task that is assigned.

For detecting the gap, an optical-flow technique is used. It takes a picture first then moves a little bit, and then again takes another picture. It then identifies similar features in each picture, and the far away features behind the gap will appear to be the closer than before. The maximum speed that can be achieved by the passing through the gap was 2.5 m/ s. It was primarily constrained by the rolling shutter camera  but again, this method wouldn't be good for high-performance drones so it has been  coupled with the monocular camera
So pull up your sock guys cause its time for you can construct a quadcopter using your  Expert level kit.
