It’s a rather lazy sunday afternoon. After quite a long and tiresome week, most of us would be unwinding and engaging in a much sought after nap to gear ourselves for the next week. But back at Kidobotikz, there’s no such resting.

It’s roboting, roboting, roboting. . . .

Students are here to work on their robotics kits, churning out ever interesting projects. They’ve been hard at work since morning with their laptops and tools dotting the every corner of the makerspace. Meanwhile, we meet up with someone who’s been associated with Kidobotikz ever since its inception. He came here as a 6th Grader. Today he’s in class 9 and is already a tech savvy roboticist. Meet Sarvesh, a zealous robotics enthusiast and our geek for the day.

Hi Sarvesh! Can you tell us about about yourself? Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi everyone! I’m Sarvesh.B. I study in Class 9 of Jawahar Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar.

Can you tell us how your association with Kidobotikz happened ?

I joined Kidobotikz in the year 2013. It was by a stroke of coincidence. We used to receive pamphlets in the newspapers and one such time Kidobotikz pamphlets were found in them. Both my parents were interested in me knowing about it. Once they told me about kidobotikz, even I wanted to give it a try. That’s why I joined Kidobotikz.

Were you curious about robotics before joining Kidobotikz? And how has it changed your perspective?

Even as a kid, I had always been curious about knowing about things and building new things from scratch. I used to salvage parts from old toys and use them to do new projects of my own. Robotics as a subject was only a logical improvement from that. However, before joining Kidobotikz, my idea of mainstream robotics was all about humanoids. I had no idea as to what other kinds of robots existed out there. I learnt about the existence of some amazing concepts like hexapods and drones only after joining Kidobotikz. Kidobotikz helped expand my perspective of the field of robotics.

What do you friends think about your learning robotics? And do you feel everyone should pick it up?

Many of my friends do know that I learn robotics at Kidobotikz. But, not many of them understand or appreciate the seriousness of learning robotics while still in school. More importantly, I feel that they don’t seem to realize how much robotics will be a part of human life in the future. Maybe if they were at Kidobotikz like I am they will understand it. Although some of them did follow my suit and joined Kidobotikz.

On your question about everyone taking robotics, I feel no. Robotics is an important subject. But one shouldn’t pick it up just because of their parents. Learning robotics helps in a long way. But it shouldn’t be coerced.

What are your favourite robots? Is there any type of robot that you would like to develop?

Well, I’m not fascinated by robotics machines. What I’m actually interested in are the subjects that are a part of robotics, programming in particular. I’m fascinated by applications of programming in areas such as brain–computer interface (BCI) where EEG based brainwave activity is used to manipulate machines. As for the robots that I would like to build, they’d probably be the Exoskeleton Suits adorned by Iron Man. I know it’s a part of science fiction, but i really dream of being able to build it one day.

What are your future plans? What do you intend to with roboting skills you’ve gained at Kidobotikz?

My plan is to pursue robotics at an esteemed university abroad. But i guess its a long way till I am out of school. So, let’s wait for it. But I intend to robotics entrepreneur in life. That I am sure of.

Kidobotikz is a leading EdTech startup offering Robotics Courses for students. Moving from a Robotics training Institute which conducted Robotics classes to a “Learn Robotics Online”, Kidobotikz today has 4 levels of Kits which offer Robotics for Kids. If the question on your mind is “How to learn robotics”, then the answer is Kidobotikz.
