When one observes the various students that assemble for a class or a session, one cannot help but wonder the diversity each one of them bring to the gathering. These young minds which may vary from being all knowing to all observing add a unique flavour to the classroom. While the faculty is the one who bears the brunt of the candour these 10 somethings bring to the room, for onlookers it is always a sight to behold as knowledge dissipates through the class. Today with us is someone for who is a typical kidobotikzian- calm, intellectually sound and innately passionate about robotics. Meet Kaushik, an expert level roboticist and our focus for today’s geek speak.

Hey Kaushik! Do you mind introducing yourself to our readers? And Why are you here at Kidobotikz today?

I’m Kaushik. I’m in the 8th grade. And I study at Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School. At Kidobotikz, I recently completed my expert level. I am now waiting for the graduation school which will probably be held in the June of next year. In the meantime, I am improving upon my roboting skills by taking part in projects. I am working on the telebot project.

Can you tell us what led you to join Kidobotikz?

Since I’ve lived in the vicinity of KK Nagar, I’ve always been aware of Kidobotikz and their activities. However, I joined them only last year. Last summer, when we were all at the close of the academic year and were looking to plan something interesting for the vacation, Kidobotikz happened to announce their annual summer camp for robotics. I wanted to give it a shot and came here. Ever since then, I’ve been a proud Kidobotikzian. It paid off for having gotten my hands on one of those flyers.

Interesting. So, what was your assumption about robotics before joining Kidobotikz and how has the opinion changed now?

For me, before joining Kidobotikz, Robotics was a subject of very high tech that only a select few would ever be able to work on. However, joining Kidobotikz changed that thought on its head. Kidobotikz actually made me realize that the subject was sappa (a colloquial tamil word for “simple” and “trivial”) and it was easy for anyone to master robotics given the right kind of learning tools and faculty.

Also, when I joined Kidobotikz, I assumed that they will be teaching a very few basic concepts in robotics and the high tech concepts that we see in the actual. But, yet here I am working on a telepresence robot- TeleBot. This is an amazing realization for me.

What are your favourite kind of robots? And what kind of robots do you intend to develop after mastering the field of robotics?

My passion is Arm robots and Hexapods.  They display the ultimate manifestation of dexterity that can be incorporated into robots. Apart from that I love the complexity that is built into line follower robots. I mean, it’s just following a black line; but to achieve that, there’s too much of calculation and programming that goes into these robots.

There’s no particular kind of robot that i intend to build. However, if there’s a particular kind of robot that I wanna build, it would be the kind of robot that will be useful for the nation and humanity at large.

What your plans for your higher studies?

I am sure about doing robotics for my higher studies. Although, I don’t intend to leave the country as opposed to others who go abroad for robotics. I wanna develop the field of robotics in India.

Kidobotikz is a leading EdTech startup offering Robotics Courses for students. Moving from a Robotics training Institute which conducted Robotics classes to a “Learn Robotics Online”, Kidobotikz today has 4 levels of Kits which offer Robotics for Kids. If the question on your mind is “How to learn robotics”, then the answer is Kidobotikz.
